Giannis Antetokounmpo suffers sprained ligament in right wrist

The Bucks avoided a massive blow to their team and, most importantly, to their superstar when the reports came back of him only suffering a sprained ligament in his right wrist and nothing major happened.

Giannis left the All-Star game after only playing 20 seconds in the game, scoring two points and committing one foul, due to his wrist injury. Before the game, Antetokounmpo publicly said he was only going to play as long as his wrist could handle it – he was seen with wrist bandages.

He may miss some games due to the pain, but, when it calms down, Giannis will make his return to the team.

Antetokounmpo is averaging 31.8 points, 12.2 rebounds and 5.4 assists this season.

Doc Rivers On Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Injury: ‘I’m Not Sure’

Before getting on a plane to fly to Indiana, the Milwaukee Bucks held practice on Thursday. The most notable headliner from practice was not seeing Giannis Antetokounmpo do any contact or live practicing, but there is some good news attached.

As Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported, the 29-year-old was doing walk-through drills by “shooting and moving.” This is a very positive note for the Bucks, who are heading into Game 3 tied at one apiece.

Doc Rivers did provide an update regarding the health and a possible return; however, it was extremely vague and swayed between pessimistic and optimistic.

“He’s getting close,” Rivers said. “But, I don’t know what that even means. I’m being honest. I saw him moving around and in my mind I said he’s getting close. Does that mean a day, four days? I’m not sure.”

Game 3 is Friday at 5:00 PM EST. The Bucks are listing him as doubtful for tomorrow’s contest.

Antetokounmpo continues to deal with a calf injury and has no exact timeline for his return. He did miss Game 1, where Damian Lillard and Khris Middleton put on elite performances to win in their rivalry series.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski has given fans heartbreaking news concerning Giannis Antetokounmpo’s injury status. It has been revealed that he will not be able to play in the beginning of their first-round matchup against the Indiana Pacers.

Due to a left calf strain, the Milwaukee Bucks will be without their franchise player for an undisclosed amount of games. There is optimism about him being able to return, but that is based on how he’s reacting to treatment.
