Gordon Hayward not playing in the Play-In Tournament

The Hornets will have to be without Hayward for a longer time now, but is that really a shock? His history of injuries continue as he was out 22 games, came back for a game, and then missed the next three games. He has been dealing with a sprained ankle and foot pain.

Per the Hornets, Hayward will be shut down for the next two weeks; which will make him miss the Play-In Tournament. If I’m not mistaken, this will be his second time missing the postseason, or at least the Play-In Tournament with the Hornets.

But, there is some good news. Hayward could return for the playoffs, if his team advances, that is the projected timeline for him. Until then, the Hornets will be immobilizing the left foot of Hayward by putting it in a cast.

Gordon Hayward suffers fractured finger!

Gordon Hayward suffers fractured finger! Injuries are like the plague for Gordon Hayward, they just keep spreading and spreading and damaging everywhere it goes. Less than a month after Gordon Hayward signs with the Hornets, he has injured his shooting hand.

The injury was an avulsion fracture of the fifth metacarpal on his right hand, which, unfortunately, is his shooting hand. It has been reported that he suffered this injury in Monday’s game against the Raptors when they lost 112-109 to them in the preseason.

Hayward has been starting in both of the Hornet’s preseason games; while averaging 12 points per game. The Hornets open their regular season on December 23rd when they have the Cavaliers.

What are some other injuries he has suffered in the past with the Celtics before joining the Hornets?

A multitude of injuries has been occurring throughout his journey, or his three-season journey, with the Celtics. In his season debut with the Celtics, he only got to play 6 minutes that entire season. Why was that? It was after suffering horrific and terrifying ankle and foot injuries in the 2017-18 NBA Season.

Just recently, back in November 2019, he broke his left hand. Plus, he suffered nerve and left foot issues throughout last December. This past season, inside the NBA Bubble, he missed 12 out of 17 games for Boston during their playoff run due to an ankle injury. The injury was a Grade 3 right ankle injury.

Before the 23rd of December, Hayward will have one week to attempt to get better to join the team and play against the Cavs.
