According to the Miami Heat, they have no interest in trading away their superstar player. Pat Riley, who usually doesn’t do this, has had enough of these rumors and put them to bed.
“We usually don’t comment on rumors, but all this speculation has become a distraction to the team and is not fair to the players and coaches,” said Riley. “Therefore, we will make it clear – We are not trading Jimmy Butler.”
On Christmas Day, ESPN’s Shams Charania said Butler wanted to be traded by this upcoming season’s trade deadline. This speculation has grown since Charania and Butler’s agent were online feuding.
Trade rumors and reports have risen since Miami decided not to extend the veteran last offseason.
For right now, Riley says the Heat will not be trading Butler. Essentially saying people like Shams are completely wrong and will remain loyal to the 35-year-old for at least through this season.
