Jaden McDaniels Agree To $136M Extension

The Minnesota Timberwolves and former 29th pick of the 2020 draft Jaden McDaniels have come to terms on a new deal. This deal locks him in with the franchise till he is 28-years-old.

One of the main reasons why McDaniels secured the contract was due to him being a top wing defensemen last season. Sure he can score, but holding opposing shooters to below 44% is something else.

Minnesota’s young defender agreed to a five-year, $136 million deal. No options have been attached to the deal.

While this contract does seem high in money, remember that his contract and Mikal Bridges’s contract is very similar. Bridges signed a four-year, $90 million extension with the Phoenix Suns back in 2021.

Last season, the 23-year-old averaged 12.1 points while shooing 51.7% from the field per game. Those averages, plus his defensive work, is what allowed him playing time with the starters.
