Jamal Murray Set To Miss Time With Hamstring Strain

According to head coach Michael Malone, one of Denver’s star players, Jamal Murray, will be out for an undetermined amount of time due to a hamstring issue.

While he was dealing with hamstring tightness throughout training camp, many didn’t think it would affect Murray this early in the season.

Plus, and this is where it gets worse for the Nuggets optimistic crowd, this strain is “not a one or two game injury.”

Despite it being unclear on when he’ll return, the only thing clear about this injury is that it’ll take time to heal.

Until Murray returns, Reggie Jackson could be the one to assume his role and be placed into the starting lineup.

A turn not many fans were hoping for has become a reality with Jamal Murray officially being out for the remainder of the month.

Murray suffered the right hamstring strain during Saturday night’s win over the Chicago Bulls; once he suffered the injury, Murray did not return. For the second half of the game, Reggie Jackson assumed his starting role.

Michael Malone originally called this injury “not a one or two game injury.” The new game plan is to allow him to recover the best he can, not to rush him back into action, and take it from there.

While it is a dream for Jamal Murray to represent Canada at the Olympics, he has been advised to prioritize recovery for next season.

The main reason was due to the Denver Nuggets having a long season chasing the title, Denver wants to make sure his health isn’t in jeopardy come next season.

“When I came into training camp, I wanted to see how my body would respond after a long and demanding season and if I would be physically able to compete at the highest level required for the World Cup,” said Murray.

“In consultation with medical staff and the team, it is clear that additional recovery is required, and I have made the difficult decision to not participate in the tournament.  It’s still a dream of mine to represent Canada at the Olympics, and I will support the team every step of the way as they pursue this goal.”

While many wanted Team Canada to be represented by Jamal Murray, they’ll understand the bigger picture in hoping Denver gets another chance at the title.
