Kemba Walker says “I wasn’t aggressive enough.” in tonight’s loss to the Raptors! This has been a bad series for Kemba, as he hasn’t been shooting well. Walker has only been averaging 19.7 points per game and he has only been getting 6 assists per game.

The Celtics have lost two straight games since going up 2-0 at the beginning of the series VS the Raptors. This has not been going in the favor of the Celtics, but the Raptors have been capitalizing. They have been capitalizing on their shots, key opportunities towards the basket, and just playing great defense.

This leads to Kemba Walker saying “that’s unacceptable.” Here’s the full quote:

“That’s unacceptable on my behalf, to be honest. There’s no way I can just be taking nine shots. That’s unacceptable.”

Why are the Celtics fading so badly?

To me, personally, they shouldn’t be. Talent-wise; they have Jaylen Brown, Kemba Walker, and Jayson Tatum. Those three players right there are amazing players that can pass, drive the ball into the lane, shoot from the arc, and play good coverage defense.

This could be a really bad slump for the Celtics, momentum switched when (in game 3) O.G. hit an 0.5-second shot to win the game and keep their hopes alive for the Raptors. This gave the momentum to Lowry, O.G., VanVleet, Siakam, and Ibaka. This team has been doing a lot better since getting out of the regular season, it seemed like they figured out a method to get past teams. The first series was easy, which gave them more confidence and the ability to show out to roll over easy teams.

Mainly, the big thing that the Celtics are missing… Gordon Hayward. Why? Because he is a shot creator, shotmaker, and can make the pass fit. Since losing him, when in the series against the 76ers, they just haven’t been the same.

Should Jaylen Brown also be blamed for the Celtic’s losses?

Is it all Kemba’s fault? Tatum’s fault? Well, how about Brown? Jaylen Brown has been shooting pretty poorly since this series started. For instance, in their Game 4 matchups. He finished 4-for-18 while shooting on 2-for-11 from the arc.

He has been on a slump just like Tatum in the 76ers-Celtics series, and sadly (just like the first series) they had wide open shots that wouldn’t go down. That’s what killed them offensively, defensively it was another thing.

Like what some of the Celtic players were saying, the Raptors were playing harder and smarter than the Celtics.

“I just missed some open shots,” Brown said. “I’m a good shooter. I’ve just got to make them. It makes or breaks time, 2-2, the series is tied up. We didn’t play that well. I didn’t play that well. We got to bounce back and be ready to fight. That’s what it comes down to fight. We have to be ready to fight for our lives next game and keep playing good basketball. Open shots just didn’t go down. Tough night.”

If the Celtics and Brown want to win games again, they have to convert on shots. Easier said than done, but that’s what they’re going to have to do. Because the Raptors have been converting and doing all the right stuff to have the right outcomes.

What does Kemba Walker think on this matter?

“It’s tough, man,” Walker said. “Obviously we didn’t want to come out that way, but it just happened. We’ve just got to clean it up, we’ve got to find a way, man. We’ve got to be better. I have to be better. I have to find a way to get my teammates at a higher intensity, and I will. I’m going to try my best to bring the best out of these guys. Nobody ever said it was going to be easy. We know how the playoffs are, and these are the defending champs. These guys have been through it. These guys have been through it. They’ve been through the fight before. They’ve been down before. They know what it takes. But I can’t stress enough how much we just have to be better.”
