Kevin Durant gives Nets two options that scare fans to death

We all knew at some point this was going to bubble over and now lead to these unfolding events, right? But no one could expect an outcome like this in any shape, form, or fashion. There was a report about a meeting that was going to take place between Kevin Durant and Net’s owner Joe Tsai in the near future. Per The Atheltic, that meeting happened over the weekend in London.

The meeting was kept professional as Kevin Durant laid out his lack of faith in the direction of the team and has expressed once more his desire to be traded. Nothing really changed on that end, however, the biggest ultimatum has been issued by the future HoFer.

Durant has proposed that it is between him or Nash and Marks. Who do the Nets consider highly of more, Durant or their head coach and general manager? If those two aren’t fired then Durant wants out immediately. However, it seems like Durant would stay if those two were fired.

In short, the owner of the Nets has a lot to chew on regarding the future of his front office and his roster before the start of the next NBA season.

The price for Kevin Durant is still sky-high and it remains to be seen if that price will shift at all for teams that want Durant and have inquired about the 33-year-old.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, confirmed by the Phoenix Suns, Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal will return to the court Tuesday night. Tuesday’s game is an NBA Cup game against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Both players have completed multiple days of full practice to be cleared for a return. Durant has been out since November 8th, and Beal has been out since November 12th.

Durant, 36, and Beal, 31, return from calf injuries. Durant has dealt with this type of injury since the summer leading up to the Olympics. Beal has dealt with varying injuries since last season.

Kevin Durant Will Not Sign Extension Until 2025

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Phoenix Suns and Kevin Durant will not come together to finalize an extension before Monday’s deadline.

If Durant were to sign before the deadline, it would be only for a year. However, if he waits until 2025, he can sign an extension of up to two years.

For the record, Durant has two seasons left on his current contract. The 36-year-old will make $51.1 million this season and $54.7 million the following season. In 2026-27, if no extension is signed, he will be an unrestricted free agent.

Per Shams, both Phoenix and Durant prefer the superstar to sign the two-year extension worth $124 million.

Josh Bartelstein Says Suns Have 'Good Relationship' With Kevin Durant

The Phoenix Suns CEO, Josh Bartelstein, was asked about their relationship with Kevin Durant and whether the fans could expect an extension to be signed. As things go, the answers he provided should encourage Suns fans.

For context, Durant can sign a one-year, $59.7 million extension before October 21st. He became eligible to sign it on July 12th.

The 35-year-old veteran’s current contract (four years, $194 million) expires in 2025-26. If he were to sign the extension, then it would take him through 2026-27.

Here is what Bartelstein said regarding the questions:

“The most important thing is Kevin loves being here, and we love having Kevin here,” Bartelstein said in an interview with The Arizona Republic’s Duane Rankin.

“He’s focused on the Olympics, but we’re always having dialogue. The relationship is what matters the most. The relationship is in a great spot. I talk to (Durant’s agent) Rich Kleiman, who works with Kevin, all the time. Conversations are great not just on extension stuff, but on all things that have been going on.”
