Kings Interested In JaVale McGee

News broke that the Dallas Mavericks were waiving JaVale McGee, that’s a done deal and will allow him to hit the waivers.

However, McGee won’t have to wait long to sign with a new team potentially. Another news broke that the Sacramento Kings are very interested in the veteran center.

Sacramento may be the frontrunner to land the 35-year-old, why? Due to the fact that Mike Brown, the current head coach, was an assistant coach under Steve Kerr’s Golden State Warriors when McGee played.

Once waivers are cleared by the player, expect the Kings to sign him immediately. If that is the route the organization wants to take.

Domantas Sabonis (Ankle) Is Out At Least 10 Days

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, confirmed by the Sacramento Kings, prized big-man Domantas Sabonis will be out at least ten days due to a right ankle sprain.

The 28-year-old suffered the injury during the Memphis Grizzlies game, where fans only saw him playing 12 minutes before being out the remainder of the game.

He first went to the locker room with a laceration-related injury, but came back. However, the second time he went to the locker room, it was for his ankle and never returned.

Sabonis has missed some time this season with a previous hamstring injury, which saw Sacramento go 3-6 in his absence.

The Kings take on the Cleveland Cavaliers Wednesday night. Sacramento currently holds the ninth seed in the Western Conference.

This season, Sabonis averages 19.2 points and 13.9 rebounds in 58 appearances.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Sacramento Kings have traded for Washington Wizards’ center Jonas Valanciunas.

It’s being reported Sacramento is giving Washington 20-year-old Sidy Cissoko and two second-rounders.

The 32-year-old, who has started for the majority of his career, was the backup for Alex Sarr. It is now believed he will be backing up Domantas Sabonis.

This is the first year of Valanciunas’s three-year, $30 million contract.

De'Aaron Fox Told By Kings About Opening Trade Talks

According to Marc Stein and Jake Fischer, the Sacramento Kings were the ones who brought up opening trade talks surrounding De’Aaron Fox. Fox did not have any intentions of requesting a trade.

With the option of being traded on the table now, Fox would have preferred to handle this matter in the offseason. The main reason is that more teams would have been interested in the talented guard.

Right now, teams don’t have as many assets to trade for him as they would in the offseason.

Rumors were circulating that Fox opted not to extend with Sacramento because he was unhappy or wanted to see if they could succeed. Neither was the prevailing case, as he declined the contract to bet on himself to make an All-NBA team to become supermax eligible.

The supermax contract would have guaranteed a lasting relationship with the Kings, as that was the superstar’s intention. However, he is no longer interested in remaining with the team after they decided to move on from him.
