LeBron James To Play One To Two More Years Before Retiring

The basketball world will still have the opportunity to watch LeBron James for at least another season or two, as he isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

On Pat McAfee’s show, The Athletic’s Shams Charania expects the NBA’s all-time leading scorer to stay in the NBA. This comes after James’s comments after the Brooklyn Nets game, where he put up an efficient 40 points, that his career is coming to an end soon.

“One or two more years is the expectation for LeBron James.. Clearly he still loves the game and he still wants to win another ring”

He’s made it known he wants to play with his son, Bronny James. So it’s already been expected that he will play to at least the age of 41.

Luka Doncic Will Be Eligible For Full No-Trade Clause In 2028

According to Marc Stein, by 2028, Luka Doncic will be considered to have played four years with the Los Angeles Lakers and will allow him to have a full no-trade clause for his next deal included.

This past Saturday saw Doncic sign a three-year, $165 million contract extension with the Lakers. The deal does include a player option.

By him signing the three-year deal now, this will open him up for a five-year supermax bubbling over $400 million. Plus, in addition to the massive payday, including the potential no-trade clause.

Right now in the National Basketball Association, only two players have a no-trade clause: LeBron James and Damian Lillard. Bradley Beal used to have a no-trade until buying out his contract with the Phoenix Suns to join the Los Angeles Clippers.

Los Angeles has fully committed to Doncic being their franchise player and their post-LeBron answer.

Luka Doncic Signs $165 Million Extension With Lakers

According to multiple reports, spearheaded by ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Los Angeles Lakers and Luka Doncic have come together on a contract extension.

The official terms of the deal is set to be a three-year, $165 million extension that sees Doncic secure a player option for the year 2028.

This contract comes after Doncic did the heavy-lifting of recruiting Marcus Smart and Deandre Ayton to Los Angeles.

“I’m really grateful to the Lakers organization, my teammates and the fans for welcoming me and my family with so much support and kindness since day one,” said Doncic in a statement. “This is an amazing organization, and I truly believe in what we’re building together. I’m going to keep working as hard as I can to bring another championship to Los Angeles and to make Laker Nation proud.”

When the 28-year-old is set to become a free agent in 2028, he will be eligible to sign a five-year, $417 million deal.

According to multiple reports, spearheaded by ESPN, Brook Lopez did have his sights set on signing with the Los Angeles Lakers but pivoted due to the uncertainty of LeBron James’ future with the Lakers.

The Los Angeles Clippers swooped in and secured him for their center room. With him not wanting to be apart of the current LeBron drama in L.A., Lopez passed up being a starter to now being the backup to Ivica Zubac.

This offseason saw Deandre Ayton be bought out by the Portland Trail Blazers and signed by the Lakers, which came days after the Lopez news.
