Major moves happening in the NBA! It’s all unfolding as the NBA’s board of governors had a meeting and voted on topics like the coach’s challenge and roster limits.
The NBA’s board of governors have voted and decided on keeping the coach’s challenge moving forward; this challenge was introduced to the league last year on a one-year deal. Now it looks to be here for a longtime.
Coaches have challenged 700 calls last season, including the playoffs, as calls were being overturned 308 times. This is the rate of 44%.
Now, the NBA has fixed some things about this challenge rule. Two parts of this rule was fixed; number one, teams can no longer challenge the go-ahead call if they incur a delay of game violation before asking for the review of that moment/play.
Number two, the time window of which the team wants to challenge may not begin till after the final decision of the refs.
A trade-deadline has been decided!
A trade-deadline has been set for this upcoming season; and it is set for March 25th. Also, how you can look at it would be through the second half of the season.
Roster limits being changed!
The board of governors have decided that they will be giving teams the right to expand their active roster from 13 to 15 players for the season; this choice is only available for game nights.
This move was made to insure teams that they will have backup players just in case some of their players come down with COVID-19.
