MAJOR Suns update regarding Chris Paul and Cameron Payne
The Suns are without both of their point guards again and this is not a new feeling for the Suns or their fanbase, but it is one that is often reoccurring. However, it is a little bit different this time around – well, at least for Chris Paul.
Per Duane Rankin of AZCentral, Cam Payne is set to miss at least two weeks with his foot injury while Chris Paul is day-to-day with his sore right hip injury.
This is a significant setback for Payne, who already missed 9 games due to this injury, as this foot injury has been nagging him for some time and he can’t shake it. That became very apparent during the Suns-Cavaliers game when Payne left the game after the first half due to re-aggravating it.
Despite the negatives, there is some good news, Chris Paul is questionable for Sunday’s game against the Cavaliers. So Phoenix could be getting back their veteran point guard for tomorrow’s matchup.
The Suns’ currently have Cam Payne, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder, Devin Booker, and Chris Paul all out with injuries or simply not playing for the team. Four of the five players on this list are starters for this team.
According to Marc Stein, the Memphis Grizzlies are looking for at least one first-round pick to comfortably move off of Ja Morant.
Since reports stirred up weeks ago, variations of what Memphis would want has fluctuated from multiple picks and a young player to just a young player; however, now, with official confirmation, the Grizzlies are at least looking for a first-rounder.
Currently, Morant is dealing with an elbow sprain, which will sideline him through the NBA trade deadline. This comes after his eventual return from a calf injury.
Due to shaky statistical play and injuries, the 26-year-old has a very limited trade market. Not many teams, this now includes the New Orleans Pelicans, are wanting to trade for the superstar point guard.
Outside of names like the Miami Heat, there hasn’t been a concrete frontrunner who undoubtedly wants Morant. Right now, it is unclear whether or not he will be moved by the deadline.
According to the Atlanta Hawks, Kristaps Porzingis, who has only appeared in 17 games this season, will be out another week due to left Achilles tendinitis.
The 30-year-old will undergo re-evaluation in one week.
This season, Porzingis has averaged 17.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game.
With the February 5th trade deadline around the corner, according to Marc Stein, the Houston Rockets have made it clear to teams that Tari Eason is untouchable in any potential trade conversations.
Houston has seemingly always valued the 24-year-old, as they see the potential he has to be a solid player within their playoff-contending system.
The fourth-year player will be a restricted free agent this upcoming offseason.
This season, Eason is averaging 12.0 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.3 steals per game.
