MAJOR Suns update regarding Chris Paul and Cameron Payne
The Suns are without both of their point guards again and this is not a new feeling for the Suns or their fanbase, but it is one that is often reoccurring. However, it is a little bit different this time around – well, at least for Chris Paul.
Per Duane Rankin of AZCentral, Cam Payne is set to miss at least two weeks with his foot injury while Chris Paul is day-to-day with his sore right hip injury.
This is a significant setback for Payne, who already missed 9 games due to this injury, as this foot injury has been nagging him for some time and he can’t shake it. That became very apparent during the Suns-Cavaliers game when Payne left the game after the first half due to re-aggravating it.
Despite the negatives, there is some good news, Chris Paul is questionable for Sunday’s game against the Cavaliers. So Phoenix could be getting back their veteran point guard for tomorrow’s matchup.
The Suns’ currently have Cam Payne, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder, Devin Booker, and Chris Paul all out with injuries or simply not playing for the team. Four of the five players on this list are starters for this team.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Indiana Pacers and head coach Rick Carlisle have agreed to a new contract extension that will see him in Indy for the foreseeable future. This comes months after battling in the NBA Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Since joining Indiana, he has made the Eastern Conference Finals and NBA Finals in his two coaching seasons. He has been a massive turning point in their postseason, franchise success.
Carlisle has an overall coaching record of 993-860, this spans over three organizations: the Dallas Mavericks (won 2011 NBA Finals), Detroit Pistons, and Indiana Pacers.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the New Orleans Pelicans have signed free agent Jalen McDaniels to a contract. The terms of the deal is currently unknown.
New Orleans had an open roster spot and was $4.2 million under the luxury tax line, which allowed them to sign the 27-year-old.
In 38 G League games last season, McDaniels averaged 13.5 points and 7.2 rebounds per game.
Despite the good numbers, he only managed to play in six NBA games with the Washington Wizards last season.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, confirmed by the organization, the Miami Heat has traded Haywood Highsmith and a 2032 second-round pick to the Brooklyn Nets for a conditional 2026 second-round pick.
Miami completed this trade to get underneath the tax line for the upcoming season; this follows after it was reported the 28-year-old had knee surgery earlier this month and was looking to be out eight-to-ten weeks.
Highsmith appeared in 74 games averaging 6.5 points and 3.4 rebounds per game.
