MASSIVE Warriors-Pistons-Hawks Trade

The Warriors, Pistons, Hawks, and the Blazers were all busy today. How so? They all were dealing, and receiving, some pretty big pieces.

This multi-team deal had many layers to it as originally it was between the three teams before the Warriors brought in the Blazers to reroute picks to them for Gary Payton II.

Here is the full trade:

  • Warriors: Gary Payton II
  • Hawks: Saddiq Bey
  • Pistons: James Wiseman
  • Trail Blazers: 5 second-rounders, Kevin Knox

The injury-riddled James Wiseman fell out of favor with the Warriors’ rotation as he was no longer a good fit for Golden State. It was clear that they drafted the wrong player back in the 2020 draft.

Saddiq Bey made history with the Pistons, how? He is the first player in Pistons history to make 100 3-pointers in each of his first three NBA seasons. Impressive as he is averaging 15 points per game.

The defensive-minded Gary Payton II makes his reunion to the Warriors after playing not even a season with the Blazers. He got noticed after his breakout season with the Warriors, signed a lucrative deal with Portland, to be shipped back to the Golden State Warriors.

Now, in a cost-cutting-related move, The Hawks traded Justin Holiday and Frank Kaminsky to the Rockets for Garrison Matthews and Bruno Fernando.

It is also being said that James Wiseman will be a starter for the Pistons; Detroit is giving him every opportunity to turnaround his career and make it count.

“It’s tough, right? I’ve always said I want to be a Warrior for life. At this stage in my career, I feel like that’s possible. And you can still be a competitive, it doesn’t mean you guaranteed the championship. It doesn’t mean winning. Winning is always a priority, but obviously you’re realistic. It doesn’t mean that it’s going to happen if you stay the course. You need to shake things up and keep reimagining what it looks like to evolve with what league is at right now, with where some of these talented teams are now.
