Paul George, Clippers Talking Extension

I have some great news for Clipper fans, the aging superstar is not leaving you guys anytime soon. It appears Paul George wants to keep the mindset of retiring as a Clipper alive.

Los Angeles and George continue to have active contract extension talks with both sides wanting to get a deal done. This year could be his last as a Clipper if he decides to decline his player option and both sides aren’t on the same page when that time comes.

Reportedly, the 33-year-old can sign an extension with the Clippers for up to four years and about $220 million. With that being laid out, it’ll be his biggest contract yet.

“If it’s up to me, absolutely,” George said. “I’m back home, with a great organization, an organization that believes in winning and does everything they can to win. Why not? Why not retire here? It would be a dream if I can ride it out, hopefully compete for multiple championships while I’m a Clipper and be able to say I played at home and did something great at home. So yeah, that’s first on my agenda.”

While he wants to return, both sides must be on the same wavelength before he puts ink on the paper.

“Active, but both sides have to be on the same page and that’s just what we’re trying to figure it out,” said George when asked how active the talks have been.

Kawhi Leonard’s contract is the same as Paul George’s contract, both could be gone by next season – if no extension is reached and they decline their options. However, there is a sense around the league that Los Angeles will be able to retain both of their talented cornerstone pieces.
