According to The Athletic’s Sam Amick, the New York Knicks have made Jalen Brunson “untouchable” in any trade conversations that may or may not include Giannis Antetokounmpo.

New York has made it clear they highly value Brunson, even if it means not being able to land Antetokounmpo as a result of it. The Knicks internally believe having him on a discounted contract will allow them to outlast their competition in their never-ending quest for a championship.

Both Milwaukee and New York have kicked the can around on a potential trade; however, both teams have the common mentality of wanting to keep their franchise player for the foreseeable future.

This has ultimately led to talks settling down and now at a stalemate of what’s next. It’s reportedly believed that the Knicks offered the Bucks a combo of Karl-Anthony Towns, OG Anunoby, and Mitchell Robinson.

It’s unclear how the organization feels about potentially trading away Mikal Bridges; the reason why he wasn’t apart of this round of trade talks was due to being ineligible in the month of August because of contract restrictions.

Since the ending of last season, beginning this offseason, Antetokounmpo has sent very mixed signals of what he wants do with his career and if that’ll be continued with the Milwaukee Bucks.

According to Jake Fischer and Marc Stein, the Phoenix Suns and newly acquired Mark Williams are not even close to coming to an agreement on a contract extension.

The deadline for Williams to sign an extension is October 20th, which is less than two weeks away. Due to the Suns not seeing enough of him and getting enough information, they don’t want to commit financially yet.

Over the course of his first three seasons in his career, the 23-year-old only appeared in 106 games. He has been very injury-prone throughout the duration of his career, which is why his original trade to the Los Angeles Lakers got canned.

This is a massive season for the young center to prove to his new team, and to the league, that he can play healthy and can provide on both ends of the court. The Suns will be looking for his defensive specialities to elevate their lineup.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, there is great “optimism” that an extension will be reached between the two sides being Opening Night of the NBA.

Rich Kleiman, Kevin Durant’s business manager, has been in “constant communication about a long-term contract extension” with Houston. Durant continues to voice his opinion privately and publicly about signing a new deal with the Rockets.

“I do see myself signing a contract extension,” Durant said. “I can’t tell you exactly when that will happen, but I do see it happening.”

The 37-year-old is eligible to sign a two-year deal worth over $120 million.

“I’m told there is optimism about a deal getting done before the start of the regular season,” said Charania.

Durant is currently on an expiring contract making $55 million for this upcoming season.
