According to Marc Stein, the Boston Celtics continue to seek out potential trade options involving Anfernee Simons – a player they traded for a month ago when dealing out Jrue Holiday.

Simons is currently on an expiring contract worth $27.7 million. Boston wants to continue to shed off cap space to get under the luxury tax, which they are still $20 million over the bill.

The long-term strategy here is get under the luxury tax while Jayson Tatum is rehabbing his Achilles injury so that they have more flexibility for 2027 and beyond.

Despite wanting to shed money, they want to retain Sam Hauser, who is on a four-year deal worth $45 million. Boston’s front office is only focusing on Simons, especially after trading away Kristaps Porzingis and Holiday.

Right now, it is unclear the level of interest teams have for the talented guard. It’s expected this will be an on-going situation throughout the offseason.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the veteran point guard has made the decision to sign with the Los Angeles Clippers – a deal triggering a reunion. It has been eight years since he has last played for the organization.

Chris Paul is set to sign a one-year, $3.6 million to play in his 21st season. This is reported to be his last contract of his professional basketball career, as the 2025-26 season will be his last.

Paul has made it very clear that he wanted to stay close to family and be in the Los Angeles area. This had been a constant theme for several months.

Despite him wanting to have a solid role that allows him to start, Los Angeles has informed the 40-year-old that he will not be having a big role and many see limited minutes at certain points of the season. Paul was fine with this.

The Clippers have been very active this season in acquiring Bradley Beal, John Collins, and now Paul.

According to multiple reports, spearheaded by ESPN, Brook Lopez did have his sights set on signing with the Los Angeles Lakers but pivoted due to the uncertainty of LeBron James’ future with the Lakers.

The Los Angeles Clippers swooped in and secured him for their center room. With him not wanting to be apart of the current LeBron drama in L.A., Lopez passed up being a starter to now being the backup to Ivica Zubac.

This offseason saw Deandre Ayton be bought out by the Portland Trail Blazers and signed by the Lakers, which came days after the Lopez news.
