Shawn Marion, Amar’e Stoudemire To Have Jerseys Retired

The Phoenix Suns have announced that they’ll be retiring the numbers of Shawn Marion and Amar’e Stoudemire.

The announcement came from owner Mat Ishbia, here is his statement:

“Shawn and Amar’e are two of the very best to ever wear a Phoenix Suns uniform. Shawn changed the game with his elite versatility and Amar’e was one of the most electrifying players the league has ever seen. Shawn and Amar’e helped define the Suns and inspired generations of fans, and our Suns family is incomplete without them in the Ring of Honor.”

Both players will be having their own night.

According to The Athletic’s Sam Amick, Zach LaVine has full intentions of opting into his $48.9 million player option for next season. This season, he stands to make $47.5 million.

The league-wide expectation is that the 30-year-old will not be traded at this year’s NBA deadline. This is wildly due to his massive remaining contract.

However, this upcoming offseason, it is entirely likely to see Sacramento trading LaVine as an expiring contract for the 2026-27 season. Despite carrying the massive contract, they could find value for LaVine from a team looking to clear salary for the 2027 offseason.

This season, LaVine is averaging 19.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game.

According to The Athletic’s Sam Amick, Karl-Anthony Towns to this day is still upset the New York Knicks entertained the idea of trading him away to the Milwaukee Bucks for Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The 30-year-old seeing this unfold “led to hard feelings” and never really getting over it. This comes at a time where Towns has criticized, and openly expressed his frustrations, about his role within head coach Mike Brown’s offense multiple times throughout this season.

It’s unclear if the Knicks are going to make any moves at the deadline, but Towns’ name has been a recurring topic of discussion of being moved from New York. He has two years left on his contract, which sees him making $118 million in total.

This season, he is averaging 20.2 points, 11.6 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game.

Steven Adams (Ankle Surgery) Out For Remainder Of Season

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, confirmed by the Houston Rockets, Steven Adams will be out for the rest of the season due to undergoing season-ending ankle surgery on his his left ankle.

Last week, Adams was ruled out with a Grade 3 ankle sprain. The injury happened during their matchup against the New Orleans Pelicans.

The 32-year-old getting injured leaves the Rockets weakened at their center position; another position they must try to fix during their quest to make a run for the NBA title this season. Center and point guard are two of the biggest holes for this organization.

This season, Adams averaged 5.8 points and 8.6 rebounds in 22.8 minutes per game. He was a big part of their bully ball identity, as his unmatched physicality is what gave him an edge over his opponents.

In June of last year, Houston signed Adams to a three-year, $39 million contract.
