According to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, the Los Angeles Lakers have learned that their third option has suffered a grade 2 gastrocnemius calf strain and will be sidelined for four weeks. The 27-year-old will be re-evaluated after that period of time.

Despite what looked to be a serious injury has be ruled a right knee contusion. Doncic is expected to return to practice and resume playing basketball on Monday.

The team held him out for the rest of the game for cautionary reasons, Doncic reportedly wanted back into the game.

It is unclear if he will be in their game against Great Britain on Tuesday, as the team continues to evaluate all their options regarding his injury.

According to Marc Stein, by 2028, Luka Doncic will be considered to have played four years with the Los Angeles Lakers and will allow him to have a full no-trade clause for his next deal included.

This past Saturday saw Doncic sign a three-year, $165 million contract extension with the Lakers. The deal does include a player option.

By him signing the three-year deal now, this will open him up for a five-year supermax bubbling over $400 million. Plus, in addition to the massive payday, including the potential no-trade clause.
