According to Marc Stein, the Dallas Mavericks are very hopeful that Kyrie Irving will be able to be cleared for this offseason’s training camp.
The 32-year-old is on the right path to getting cleared since having surgery in July. This surgery was to help repair his hand.
While Irving hasn’t been cleared for 5-on-5 action, Stein did shed positive light on this situation:
“At this point, he has not been cleared yet for full 5-on-5 hoop, but basically what I’ve been told is he remains on course to be cleared in time for training camp, so I don’t think there’s any concern there,” said Stein on the DLLS Mavs podcast.
Players from the Mavericks hosted a mini-camp for themselves, and fifteen of them participated. Irving did show up but was limited throughout the camp.
Per Stein, the mini-camp went very well on and off the court.
“Everything I heard about the mini-camp was that the on-court stuff was great, but maybe the off-court stuff was even better.”
This is excellent news for Dallas and their fanbase heading into training camp and wanting to start strong for the upcoming regular season.
