Warriors Don’t Want To Waste Stephen Curry’s Final Years
Even before the Warriors season began, Golden State knew this was the potential beginning of the end. Klay Thompson’s contract is up, uncertainty involving key players, Chris Paul’s future in the league, and other note-worthy topics are filling the minds of their front office.
According to ESPN’s Zach Lowe, the Warriors do not want to waste Stephen Curry’s final years in the NBA. With that being said, this team is not looking to tank to gain a better draft position or try to make their roster young through an extensive rebuild.
In fact, per Lowe, it is the complete opposite. General manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. wants to make sure they remain competitive and have the ability to compete for another championship.
The Warriors have questions about their core players, Jonathan Kuminga’s eligibility for a rookie scale contract, and whether they will consider trading Draymond Green or Andrew Wiggins.
