According to the Washington Wizards general manager Will Dawkins, the organization has made the decision to keep head coach Brian Keefe for next season.
This will be his third season with the team, as Washington is signaling an end to their rebuilding era, thanks in largely to Anthony Davis and Trae Young.
During a time of development over number of wins, higher ups credited Keefe for developing the likes of Alex Sarr, Kyshawn George, Tre Johnson, Will Riley, and Jamir Watkin.
“I think Brian has done a remarkable job,” Winger said. “He’s developed young athletes. He’s built a culture of competitiveness, accountability, togetherness and joy. I’m very, very pleased with the job that Brian has done.”
Keefe was promoted from lead assistant to interim head coach halfway through the 2023-24 season following Wes Unseld Jr.’s firing, and was hired officially in May of 2024.
