WHAT IS GOING ON!?!
WHAT IS GOING ON!?! The Suns have defeated the Mavericks, yes you read that correctly. Devin Booker and the Suns have defeated Luka Doncic and the Mavericks.
This is very shocking as the Suns have a very well start to the NBA Bubble. First of all, defeating the Wizards and now the Mavericks. Cam Johnson, Devin Booker, and Ricky Rubio are the main scorers of the Suns-Mavs contest. All three of them combined for 69 points, Luka Doncic’s double-double and Kristaps Porzingis’s 30 points and 8 rebounds.
Dallas originally had a 12 point lead, then a 10 point lead, then it kept cutting down and down until the Suns were leading by 5+ points. The Suns have shown a lot of effort in trying to make the playoffs, so should this concern any of the other teams?
Are the Sun’s becoming a deadly team?
The Suns have been putting forth an incredible effort, the Suns are indeed becoming a deadly team to face. Why? Because the Suns are finding great success in ball movement, rebounding the ball, and shooting. Ricky Rubio has been doing his job, Cam Johnson has been doing his job, and Booker has been doing his job. First of all, the way the team chemistry has come along is magnificent.
Everyone seems to be on the same page as everyone else because they have been more efficient on the court. Especially in the NBA Bubble, people have had their doubts on whether or not the Suns will win any games. Personally, to me, the Suns will continue to win games.
This shows me that if the Suns can beat the Mavs, with Luka and Porzingis, then they can beat another super-duo. I believe the Suns have woken up from their trash stage and into their reformed stage. Meaning, that they have been playing fiercely since teams and fans been sleeping on them and that the Suns got another chance to contest for the playoffs.
They are fighting for the eighth seed, all they have to do is win games. That they have proven if they keep up this hustle, effort to win, effectiveness on the court, and ability to score and play smart. I believe this team can make it to the playoffs.
They aren’t out of reach from the eighth seed, the Suns are only four games out. If they keep winning and teams keep losing. Well, we are going to be seeing some Sun’s basketball in the playoffs.
The impossible is becoming the possible.
How bad are the Mavs getting? Should this concern people?
The Mavs, not lying, have been terrible in the Bubble. The Mavs have gone 0-2 so far in this 8-game stretch before the playoffs. Do they care? Yes, but does it effect them? Now, before you are like,” of course this effects them, they can’t be effective and make good strides if losing.” Well, surprisingly, that is where you are wrong.
The Mavericks, despite losing the previous two-games, have clinched a playoff spot. They clinched the 7th seed spot by the Grizzlies losing to the Spurs. That secures the Mavs and reassures them that they will be in the playoffs. That is great news because that will end their three-year drought of not making it to the playoffs, but how happy are they?
“Our goal was to make the playoffs and we achieved that, but for me and for us, we’re going to try to win every game now that we have left in the regular season,” said Mavs center Kristaps Porzingis, who scored 30 points in the loss. “Then we’ll see where we end up in the playoffs and go from there. This is not a sprint. This is a marathon, and with each day, with each game, with each practice, we want to be a better team and better individually.”
Even though they are losing back-to-back games, to the Rockets, and to the Suns, they have positive news. If they can get their act together if they can play as one unit if they can be effective and not lose. Then, I believe, they’ll be ready for the playoffs.
If I were them, I would use these next six games as assuring yourselves that you are prepared and ready to go. Why? Because these can be warm-ups and whipping players back into shape, back into their conditioning and back into their NBA-form. Imagine the Mavs going into the playoffs with a hyped-up Luka and a ready Porzingis ready for use. Now, that would be ridiculous.
Conclusion:
To state the least obvious, the Suns are becoming something special through the Bubble and the Mavs are going to the playoffs in three-years. Basically, the Suns have a really good chance of making the playoffs if they keep playing this way. Even if they end at 6-2 or 7-1, they have a solid chance of making the playoffs. Just factors and decision making in this process will be crucial. Imagine if the Suns make the playoffs this year to end their ten-year drought.
This NBA Bubble has been interesting to see this year, but for the Suns and Mavericks: this was probably worth it. The Mavs on the way to the playoffs and the Suns hoping to make it to the playoffs.
What do you guys think? Do you think the Suns will make the playoffs? Do you think they have a shot? You guys think the Mavs can finish out strong before the playoffs? Comment below, sound off, we would love to hear what you guys have to say!
