Add Derrick White to the injury list!

Add Derrick White to the injury list! White is out definitely as he broke his second left toe against the Lakers this past Friday. This happened in the second quarter of the game when he fell.

Toe injuries are not the first time for White, actually this is his second time breaking his toe. Ironically, he broke this toe before. Yes, you are reading this correctly.

This past offseason, he had surgery on the same toe; which made him miss training camp, preseason, and the first four games of the NBA season. Now the team does say this is a different injury than what occurred when he needed surgery. It is being told that he fractured his toe this time around.

In that game-day loss, White only scored 9 points in 23 minutes.

Derrick White: “It Would Be Cool To Get An Extension”

Derrick White has only been with the Boston Celtics for a year and a half, but he’s ready to be here for the foreseeable future and grow their “relationship”.

“I love being here in Boston. It would be cool to get an extension,” White said. “We’ll see what happens during that window, but I’ve loved my time in Boston so far and my focus right now is just on the season.”

With Marcus Smart gone, White is expected to get a larger role with the team. So much so that he wants an extension, which would be great for both sides.

His on-ball presence will be increased as White could be their primary point guard.

“I’m looking forward to it,” White said about the change in his role. “I’ll definitely have the ball in my hands, more of a playmaker role, and I’m looking forward to grow with the team and just get us in the right position each and every time.”

The 29-year-old played all 82 games last season averaging 12.4 points and 3.9 assists per game.

Derrick White DONE for the season due to ankle issues!

Derrick White DONE for the season due to ankle issues! With the NBA Season coming to an end within the next week or two, the Spurs have officially announced that Derrick White is done for the season with an ankle sprain to his right ankle. The injury happened yesterday against the Wizards, a game that the Spurs did win.

This is not White’s first injury of the season because he was originally sidelined due to a toe injury, that cost him roughly 18 games. The guard will be replaced by the rookie, Devin Vassell, until next season it is looking like.

Currently, the Spurs and Grizzlies are tied with the same record at the 8-9th seed. Either team could be in the play-in tournament, and Popovich could take his team back to the playoff after a long drought these past few years. Really after Tim Duncan left.
