Taylor Jenkins accepts multi-year extension with the Grizzlies

The Memphis Grizzlies have been going hard to the hole with their front office and their roster. Today, the news dropped that current head coach of the Memphis Grizzlies, Taylor Jenkins, has been given a multi-year extension.

The terms of the contract have not been released to the public; however, it should be longer than two years. This Memphis team has been soaring to new heights since Jenkins got here.

This season was magical for not only making the playoffs, but being a team with 50-plus wins on the season. Jenkins led his team to a record-tying 56 wins and finished second in the COY Race.

The Grizzlies have been taking care of locking up key members of this organization by extending Zach Kleiman (general manager) last year and now Taylor Jenkins. It should also be noted that Jaren Jackson Jr. is set to begin his new contract next season and that Ja Morant is scheduled to accept his maximum extension soon.

According to ESPN’s Tim MacMahon, confirmed by Memphis Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins, Jaren Jackson Jr. has been diagnosed with a low-grade strain in his hamstring.

There is good and bad news attached to this latest injury; the good news is that the team has no concerns about his availability for the start of the regular season. However, the bad news is that his return has no concrete timeline.

Memphis will proceed cautiously after the 25-year-old suffered the injury on the first day of training camp.

Jaren Jackson Jr. Injures Hamstring In First Practice Of Training Camp

According to ESPN’s Tim MacMahon, confirmed by head coach Taylor Jenkins, Jaren Jackson Jr. has suffered a hamstring injury requiring further testing.

The imaging will determine the severity as Jenkins and the Memphis Grizzlies believe it’s a strain.

GG Jackson and Vince Williams Jr. are also out for the Grizzlies during camp.

Their preseason begins on October 7th, and their regular season starts on October 23rd.

In a shocking turn of events, heading into the new season, NBA veteran Derrick Rose has officially announced his retirement.

On Wednesday, Rose posted on Instagram a cryptic video of what many believed to be a hint at him retiring. For those who guessed that, you all are correct.

In the early hours of Thursday, the 35-year-old announced on Instagram that he is retiring after 16 years in the league.

He wrote almost a love letter to the game of basketball, what it meant to him, and what it has done for his life.

While Rose is seen as one of the NBA’s biggest what-ifs due to his ACL injury in his prime years with the Chicago Bulls, he still had an undoubtedly incredible career. He was the youngest MVP winner at 22, a two-time FIBA Gold Medalist, Rookie of the Year, three-time All-Star, and All-NBA First Team.

Memphis has granted Rose’s request to be released from his contract, which officially means he will not play for them in the upcoming season. He has most definitely retired.
