Robert Williams III Undergoing Season-Ending Surgery
The Portland Trail Blazers were not ready to hear these dreaded words, especially for a player included in the Jrue Holiday trade, but here they are planning for the future without their starting center.
During Sunday’s loss to the Memphis Grizzlies, Robert Williams suffered to his right kneecap and ligaments. While other options could have been considered, the one to most benefit him would have been shutting him down for the remainder of the season.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski, he is expected to make a full recovery for the start of the 2024-25 season.
In the six games Williams played, he averaged 6.8 points and 6.3 rebounds in 19.8 minutes.
Moses Brown and Duop Reath are Portland’s back-up centers.
