Brandon Miller’s Legal Responses Frustrate Teams

Ahead of the 2023 NBA Draft, teams have met and interviewed Brandon Miller. Already has failed to stay in shape and do proper interviews, it has gotten worse for Miller.

Several teams are frustrated by Miller’s unwillingness to answer questions about his pending legal situation.

Miller provided the teams he met with a document from his lawyers. The document simply states what the teams only needed to know and the information they won’t be receiving at any time in the future.

That approach has angered teams with the Hornets and Blazers seeking more clarity before making a final decision regarding him.

Miller was allegedly present when a woman was murdered by an Alabama teammate that was charged with capital murder. Also, allegedly, Miller delivered the gun to the teammate that was used in the murder.

Per Jonathan Givony of ESPN, who spoke on Zach Lowe’s podcast, Brandon Miller has been struggling to stay in shape and to do good interviews.

His conditioning has played a factor in teams reassessing him, public and private interviews have been no so great, and his involvement in the killing of Jamea Jonae Harris has made teams pause and reassess the value of Brandon Miller.

Here is what Jonathan Givony said about Brandon Miller:

“Every team is looking for this type of player,” said ESPN’s Jonathan Givony on Zach Lowe’s podcast. “Six-nine, big guard, can handle the ball. Pass out of pick and roll. Make shots off the dribble. Defend multiple positions. Rebound. That’s what people are looking for.

“At the same time, he’s not in great shape right now. So I don’t know how great his workout is going to be.

“His interviews have not been great, I’ve been told. Both publicly and privately with NBA teams.

“I would put it 60 percent Brandon Miller at two, 40 percent Scoot Henderson. I do think they’re going to have trade conversations too. I would be shocked if they traded [the pick]. They would be out of their minds honestly. The best thing in the world that could have happened for them is getting the No. 2 pick.”
