Chris Paul Signs One-Year Deal With Spurs

According to CourtSideHeat and other reports, Chris Paul has signed a one-year deal with the San Antonio Spurs. The future Hall of Famer will play alongside Rookie of the Year Victor Wembanyama.

The 39-year-old is set to make $11 million as he fills a desperate hole for the Spurs – and that is a point guard. Per our sources, San Antonio found him as a “perfect fit” and thought him playing with Wemby would not only help the team, but also Wembanyama himself.

Paul averaged 9.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 6.8 assists in 26.4 minutes. He was set to be traded to the Los Angeles Clippers for Paul George; however, the Clippers had no interest and decided to “block” Golden State from receiving George.

Chris Paul Not Retiring In The Offseason

There are so many questions around the Golden State Warriors franchise and their current roster, but we do have clarity on Chris Paul’s future in the league.

Despite the heartbreak they went through Tuesday night against the Sacramento Kings, Paul said he has no intentions of leaving the league on a sour note.

“I’ll talk to my wife and my kids, my family, my support system, see what it looks like,” Paul told The Athletic. “But this isn’t (the end of my career). I know it for sure.”

With the 38-year-old veteran returning to the NBA, his contract with Golden State is up. While there are no guarantees of his returning to The Bay, there is a belief that Steve Kerr and the front office want him back.

For Paul, he hasn’t thought about it much. He continues to focus on the day-to-day grind.

“I haven’t thought about it,” Paul said. “I’m too in it. I was in the gym at 8 a.m. this morning, lifting and getting ready for this game. When it’s time for that, Mike (Dunleavy) and Steve (Kerr), we’ll have a conversation and see what it looks like. But I loved it. It’s honestly — this is my fifth year living without my family — I probably saw them more than any other year.”

Chris Paul To Return To Warriors Lineup

According To ESPN’s Kendra Andrews, veteran Chris Paul is set to make his return to the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday against the Washington Wizards.

Paul has not played since fracturing his hand on January 5; he has had surgery to repair the fracture.

“Chris will play all of the non-Steph minutes, and he’ll be out there with Steph as well. It’s easier for us to put Steph off the ball and take some of the wear and tear off of him when Chris is out there,” said Steve Kerr.

It should be noted that the 38-year-old is returning to a Golden State team that has undergone some lineup changes. Featuring Brandin Podziemski, Jonathan Kuminga, and, most notably, Klay Thompson.

The “Point God” averages 8.9 points, 7.2 assists, and 1.1 steals in 27.6 minutes per game (32 appearances).
