The Miami Heat does not want to pay the remaining $29.7 million left on Lowry’s existing contract; they’ve tried to trade him and if they can’t find a partner, then expect Kyle Lowry to be outta here.

Miami was hoping for Lowry to be a trade piece to acquire Damian Lillard from the Portland Trail Blazers. However, while there is still a possibility, nothing has indicated the franchise of this type of deal happening.

The Heat would use the waive-and-stretch provision if that was their final option regarding the future of Lowry. His playing days in Miami are numbered heavily.

Miami’s 2023-24 salary cap would shrink from $178.5 million to $158.5 million, keeping them under the $165 million tax line and the $182.5 million second apron.

If the storied franchise wants to get rid of him through the provision, then they must use it by September first.

There is a belief that multiple teams would be willing to sign Kyle Lowry, once he became available.
