Lauri Markkanen Wants To Stay With The Utah Jazz

During an interview with ESPN 700, The Athletic’s Tony Jones, who is a beat writer for the Utah Jazz, suggested Lauri Markkanen is not leaving the team. In fact, he prefers to stay.

According to Jones, the 27-year-old and his family have taken a liking to Utah. Plus, head coach Will Hardy and Markkanen have a strong bond that allows for the forward’s game to grow and his career to continue to be a “breakout”.

“Lauri has really taken to Utah. His family has taken to Utah,” Jones said. “Obviously the Jazz can trade him between now and Aug 6th, and Lauri knows that, but Lauri has forged a really close relationship to Will Hardy. And Will has really found a way to unlock his career.”

A new contract can be signed on August 6th, but both sides can push back the date to continue negotiating a deal. It should be noted that if the date is pushed back, then he can’t be traded by the February 6th trade deadline.

However, per Jones, the idea of Markkanen being traded is unlikely. It doesn’t matter if it’s in this offseason or during the next season.

Taylor Hendricks Has Fractured His Fibula & Dislocated His Ankle

Monday night was a horrific scene to watch with the Utah Jazz’s promising power forward suffering what looked to be a snapped leg.

It was a non-contact injury where after he was done running, Hendrick’s fell to the ground with his leg visibly broken.

According to multiple reports, confirmed by Utah, the 20-year-old suffered a fractured fibula and dislocated ankle. This was found out after being stretchered out of the arena and to the hospital.

This will be a season-ending injury.

Keyonte George (Knee) Will Get MRI For Timeline

The Utah Jazz are twelve days out from their season opener against the Memphis Grizzlies, which is good and bad when considering Keyonte George’s latest injury.

According to ESPN’s Tim MacMahon, George will get an MRI done on his left knee Friday to determine the severity and hopefully have a concrete timeline.

During Thursday night’s game against the Dallas Mavericks, the 20-year-old suffered a mild knee sprain. However, Utah is optimistic that he won’t miss significant time and can be ready by October 23rd.

George averaged 13.0 points, 4.4 assists, and 2.8 rebounds during his rookie season.

According to Senior NBA Insider Chris B. Haynes, the Utah Jazz has made the decision to pick up the fourth-year option of Will Hardy’s contract.

While the 36-year-old coach has yet to have a winning season in Utah, management believes he is doing a great job and is in no rush to make a drastic coaching change. They trust his process for however long it takes.

It should be noted that Hardy is the second youngest head coach in the National Basketball Association; the first would be Boston Celtics Joe Mazzulla.
