This is a very rare contract extension where not only does Turner get more money in the future, but he is getting more money in the present. The contract both sides agreed upon was a renegotiation-and-extension.

The extension is set for two years, $60 million dollars. In the end, this is a win-win for both sides. Indiana is able to create a new salary cap that allows for $10 million to be used before the trade deadline, which is vital to them if they want to get another piece to this team. For Turner, this allows more money and more stability.

With the new deal coming together, do not expect the team to move him ahead of the trade deadline. If they were going to trade him then they would have signed and traded him, however, since they didn’t, Indy is keeping him.

Myles Turner will be with the Pacers through the 2024-25 season.

There is always a price to get something, always. For the Lakers, they have found that out very quickly involving the Pacers and some of their players. Los Angeles has been in contact with Indiana about Myles Turner and Buddy Hield; mainly Hield, ever since pulling out of the Hield trade and trading for Russell Westbrook.

The original deal was the Lakers sending Russell Westbrook and a first-round pick over to the Pacers for Myles Turner, Buddy Hield, and other assets. However, those talks are dead and that trade offer may be dead forever.

The Pacers would consider picking back up trade talks with the Lakers, but at a price. Throw in another first-rounder and Indy’s front office will be engaging again. That is the price the LakeShow will have to pay to have negotiating talks for Hield and Turner.

The Lakers have been actively pursuing Kyrie Irving (Brooklyn Nets) and Buddy Hield (Indiana Pacers) this offseason.

It has been confirmed by many that Myles Turner will be done for good as this is a guy who has been out since the middle of January. So, truly, it was only a matter of time until it was made official.

The cause of him missing the remainder of the season is due to a left foot stress reaction.

Per ESPN, he will miss the final seven games and the postseason. The Pacers, too, will be missing the postseason as they are 25-50. They are in the 13th seed of the Eastern Conference.

In 42 games this season, Turner has averaged 12.9 points and 7.1 rebounds in 29.4 minutes per game.

Turner is scheduled to be an Unrestricted Free Agent come 2023.
