NBA is looking for a pre-Christmas start! It is being to look a lot like Christmas for the NBA as they are planning for games to begin on, or even before, Christmas Day. The NBA is entirely looking and boycotting the plan for fans to arrive for the first game and they want NBA action; what better way then to do it on Christmas Day?
Even with this COVID-19 Pandemic on our hands, the NBA is trying to get past it. Just like the NFL is doing. The NBA is offering that the league does a 72-game season, an in-tournament round, and probably no All-Star weekend/game. However, the league might add a two-week break for the players and teams. That, to me, would be the All-Star break for them; but without the games and activities.
The great part for the NBA’s reducing of games would be that they get done before the Summer Olympics. Plus, it would also help the play in-tournament that they will try to host.
The NBA is hoping that they don’t have to do another NBA Bubble, able for fans to come back, plus have teams travel safely during this COVID-19 pandemic. Also, they want fans back because without fans revenue would drop by 40%.
Would it be a great idea for them to start on Christmas?
This would be the perfect time for the NBA Season to start because the viewerships would be there, plus the money. Basketball on Christmas has always been their tradition, has always been a basketball day. The NFL, MLB, NHL, etc can not replace the NBA on that.
Those other major leagues have their own special days, what the NBA needs to hope for is that they can do Christmas, why? Because if they take Christmas off for that year it might spring onto some other league/company to take their spot. The money, views, and popularity are all there. All they have to do now is just finalize the date for the NBA to play on Christmas, broadcast it, market it, and boom you’ll have a good day.
