According to multiple reports, the Chicago Bulls will be giving Jaden Ivey his salary in full despite being waived for detrimental conduct within the organization. This decision comes after Ivey went on unhinged rants of homophobia, calling out other players, and religion.

In total, the 24-year-old will be making the $10.1 million he was originally owed for this season. Once he clears waivers, Ivey will be an unrestricted free agent that can sign with any team that wants him.

Beyond the unhinged rants online, he reportedly harassed reporters, told Chicago that Jesus healed his knee (which after an MRI revealed his knee was, in fact, not healed), made players uncomfortable with the constant preaching, and told players who were “righteous and unrighteous.”

Head coach Billy Donovan addressed the situation publicly soon after he was waived.

“I think there’s a certain level of standards and expectations that are here,” Donovan said. “We have people from all different walks of life working in the building and players from all different walks of life. We’ve got to all be professional. I think there’s got to be a high level of respect for one another, and we got to help each other and then be accountable to those standards.”

According to Marc Stein, the Dallas Mavericks have made it clear that they want to retain Jason Kidd as their head coach as their general manager search is underway.

They are looking to find a general manager that can partner with Kidd, this has been described as a big priority. Their formal search is not expected to take place until the regular season ends on April 12th.

Ownership wants Dallas to make a decision before the NBA draft in late June.

The future of Kidd in Dallas was up in the air ever since reports got out of the New York Knicks pursuing him to be their newest head coach. Ultimately, that did not work and they pivoted to former Sacramento Kings head coach Mike Brown.

CEO Rick Welts has stressed the importance of building a strong support system around developing superstar Cooper Flagg. This goes all the way from the roster of players to the coach to the general manager.

“It’s the most important decision that the organization is going to make for the coming seasons,” Welts said. “We are going to take our time and get it right.”

During a TV appearance on FanDuel TV’s “Run It Back,” Bobby Portis went on record to say Giannis Antetokounmpo will no longer be playing the final eight games of the regular season.

His two reasons were this: Milwaukee is mathematically eliminated from the postseason and taking it from a broader perspective surrounding a potential trade in the offseason.

“I don’t think he’ll play another game this year, for sure,” Portis said. “Just being smart as a pro, right now, I don’t think it’s smart for him to play.”

Due to a list of injuries concerning his calf and knee, Antetokounmpo has only been able to appear in 36 games this season. It has been a very shaky season as an organization and for individual players. The overarching topic clouding this team has been the future of the 31-year-old.

Will he be traded or will he remain with the Bucks for another season? This has been a question asked by the media, members of the NBA internally, and fans across the league. Him potentially leaving Milwaukee has been discussed at length for almost a year now. This is despite him publicly saying he loves the organization and does not want to leave.

While it’s expected a trade to go through, Portis did not shy away from answering questions and offering his perspective on things.

“If y’all talking about trading him, you don’t want any injury to knock value off or whatever,” Portis said. “That’s just business-wise, and then player-wise, obviously, you gotta look at just the total picture of what’s going on. We’re 10 games behind for the 10th seed and (with) nine games left, we can’t even make up ground.”

The Bucks are 11th in the Eastern Conference, with a record of 29-45. They are 9.5 games out from 10th, and ten games out from ninth. It is statistically impossible for them to be able to get back into the playoff hunt.
