PHX Suns making history in the postseason! Your Phoenix Suns are making history as we are approaching the NBA Playoffs in less than two weeks; play-in tournament starts on May 18th and we absolutely don’t give a darn. Seriously, as a disclaimer, we here at CourtSideHeat are huge Sun fans and to see our team make history is something that happens very rarely.

So, getting back to the news. The Phoenix Suns clinched a playoff-berth, they are in the playoffs. Now, you may be like. “Why in the absolute free world are we cheering for this?” Well, to answer this question. The answer is quite simple as the Suns have not been in the playoffs since 2010, that is 11 years. If I did the math correctly that would be a little over a decade, mind-blowing ain’t it?

While this news just broke today, we already knew by looking at the seed in the conference. They finished in second of the Western Conference. However, games are still going on. But I would not see the Suns giving up their second seed, regardless they are in the playoffs.

This is a long awaited dream that many players wanted, many coaches, and the front office and ownership. Devin Booker, their star player, has been waiting his entire career for a playoff shot. A true contending team they have become, what a moment to glorify and to celebrate.

Tyrese Maxey Calls Out Joel Embiid For Being Late To Team Activities

With the Philadelphia 76ers starting the season 2-11, tensions and speculations of what is happening have been rising. Notably, Monday night, Tyrese Maxey and the team had an emergency meeting to discuss what’s wrong.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Joel Embiid was called out by Maxey. This is due to him not being a leader and not being able to show up on time to team activities.

“In the meeting, Maxey challenged Embiid to be on time to team activities, calling out the former league MVP about being late “for everything” and how it impacts the locker room, from other players to the coaching staff.” Shams Charania wrote on ESPN.

Kyle Lowry did call for this meeting to happen, and the biggest “elephant in the room” was Embiid. Embiid has been noticeably lacking since last season.

Beyond Embiid getting called out, Philadelphia’s players are demanding head coach Nick Nurse to push them harder. Coaches responded by wanting their players to pay more attention to detail and practice with a purpose.

Overall, the meeting was a positive one, which saw coaches and players share the blame for the way they began this season.

According to multiple reports, headlined by ESPN’s Shams Charania, De’Anthony Melton has suffered a sprained ACL.

This diagnosis was confirmed through an MRI, as this injury is in his left knee. For right now, there is no timeline for his return, but Melton has already been ruled out for Golden State’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Warriors have signed the 26-year-old to a one-year, $12.8 million deal in the offseason.

LeBron James Could Retire After Next Season

According to LeBron James himself, he isn’t going to play “until the wheels fall off.” Despite saying that, James never said when he would retire. That thought is still running through his head.

“I’m not gonna play that much longer, to be completely honest. I don’t know how many years that is, whether it’s 1 year, 2 years, whatever… I’m not playing til the wheels fall off.”

Now, this speculation has been intensified by ESPN’s Shams Charania. Per Charania, he believes LeBron will retire after next season. He cites it because that’s his $52.6 million player option season.

Over the past couple of contracts he has signed, LeBron has made it very flexible to where he’s in control of what happens. Whether that’s short-term deals or including a player option.

However, despite what Shams said, he does see a world where he does continue to play. He cites the NBA All-Star Weekend being held in Los Angeles in 2027, and his son, Bryce James, being able to play with his father as soon as the 2026-27 season.

While all of this is speculation, it would be interesting to see him have his farewell tour in 2027, playing with his two sons on the Lakers, hosting the All-Star Weekend, and having that year dedicated to him.
