The Phoenix Suns having big issues now with the new CP3 injury!

When Chris Paul, point guard of the Phoenix Suns, was clutching at his hand – not much was being thought of it. However, maybe we should have taken note of it more. There were rumors, and reports, of Chris Paul and the current state he was in ahead of the NBA All-Star Game but no one knew for sure.

Hours before the All-Star Game, we found out the answer that is most likely depressing to people in The Valley. He was most likely going to play in the All-Star Game, and he did briefly, but the lasting impact is devastating.

The timeline for the point guard is expected to be between 6-8 weeks, but for what? What is the dooming injury to the 36-year-old (future) HoF? The injury is an avulsion fracture in his right thumb that is going to take time to rehab.

“We’re 48-10, and if we do miss some time, I know the guys are going to hold it down,” Paul said. “There’s always going to be a frustration with injury. My hand surgeon is part of my family now.

“I always want to play. When I felt that in my hand, I was mad for all types of reasons,” Paul added. “Obviously, we’re not going to [rush it]. I’m going to try to heal as fast as physically possible. The second I’m able to play, I guarantee you I will be playing.”

The frustration of CP3 has become apparent and this was the telling story before the official news broke about his injury.

The pros and cons of this injury:

Look, injuries are not good. No one ever wants someone to get injured, but could this injury have a positive spin? It’s very interesting as the main positive of this injury is that he is going to get a lot of resting time.

Sure the injury is devastating, but if he is able to get to 70% strength, and comfortability, in his hand then that will be great. Why? Because with this rest, his hand will be good, and he will be rocking and rolling for the postseason.

Give him seven weeks and he will be back for the beginning of the postseason as having a stronger, healthier, and more laser-focused Point God is amazing to have. That is the main pro as rest is critical and allowing him to be his best come the postseason is something electrifying all on it’s own.

Now, what are the disadvantages?

The rest of the season is not going to be having it’s normal floor-general and will be left to the likes of Cameron Payne and Aaron Holiday. Mainly Payne. Note: I love Holiday and Payne, but they are no Paul. CP3 has that stable leadership, energy, and keeping his team focused like no other on the Suns before. I am excited to see the bigger role Cameron Payne; but one has to wonder what the Suns will become when they do not have their starting point guard come this Thursday and beyond.

Lastly, hand injuries have been at a high for Chris Paul in the last 12 months. Truly, the injuries (besides just hand injuries) have been concerning. The Semi Finals and NBA Finals focused on the hands of Chris Paul; the opening round against the Lakers saw the shoulder of Chris Paul being iffy. That affected them a little bit. Also, if you want to, counting COVID also affected when it came time to face the Denver Nuggets in the second round.

So injuries and his lacking presence will be huge disadvantages for the Suns, especially when trying to close out the season strong.

Conclusion to this article:

Who knows what will happen to the reigning, defending, undisputed regular season winners. This will most certainly have an impact on the Suns, Payne, and all players that have been around Paul. It just now all depends on what the talent of Phoenix does with this setback – will it hold them down or will they thrive with this devastating blow?

Personally, I am excited to see what happens.
