Tyler Herro: “I’m Glad Portland Didn’t Want Me”
Rumors were circulating this off-season about Tyler Herro and if he was going to be shipped away in a potential trade for Damian Lillard, this was before the Milwaukee Bucks became front-runners to land the veteran.
Many people didn’t know how this would affect Herro’s relationship with the Miami Heat or if he did join the Portland Trail Blazers, but now fans around the NBA do know. Spoiler alert, Herro didn’t want to be a Trail Blazer.
“I didn’t want to go to Portland, so I’m glad Portland didn’t want me,” Herro said. “I just don’t want to be in Portland. So it’s not personal with Portland, at all.”
It appears the Blazers didn’t feel an attachment to him and the sentiment could be reversed for Herro. This all began when Miami went on a Finals run without Herro since he broke his hand against the Bucks in the first round of the playoffs.
Despite the narrative of his value decreasing, Herro says he is going to be better than he was last season. For the team, that is great news. Last season, the 23-year-old averaged 20.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game in 67 appearances.
He is entering his first year of the four year, $120 million contract he signed back in October of 2022.
