Daryl Morey is stepping down from being GM of Rockets!

Daryl Morey is stepping down from being GM of Rockets! This just in: Daryl Morey is stepping down from being the general manager of the Houston Rockets. After the Rockets were eliminated from the NBA Bubble, Morey and owner Tilman Fertitta have been working on secretly on more leaving the team.

This comes to a shocker after being and leading this team through 13 seasons. Now, Morey will be having an advisory role to help the Rockets find a new head coach. He will do this for short-time. The main reason for his departure would to find something else professionally to do and spend time with his college-age children.

Under Morey, the team has held the longest streak of making it to the playoffs. That would be eight, and in the past four years they have been in the playoffs.

Who’s getting promoted through Morey’s departure?

Rafael Stone is the man that is probably getting the job of general manager; he was originally the executive vice president of basketball operations for the Rockets. Stone was a big part of rebuilding and growing this team, whether that was accompanying players or making offseason/postseason moves to get the team to where they need to be.

Also, Eli Witus is being promoted to assistant general manager.

Daryl Morey Inquired On Star Players At The Deadline

The Philadelphia 76ers and Daryl Morey were trying to eye up and snatch big-ticket names before the NBA trade deadline came to pass.

Was some of it delusional? Yes, but why not shoot your shot? However, the Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Lakers were not interested.

Morey asked Rob Pelinka if LeBron James was able to, as there seemed to be legitimate interest to trade for one of the G.O.A.T.s, but Pelinka wasn’t having it. In a short conversation, Pelinka responded by asking him if Joel Embiid was available.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Philly’s front office leader wasn’t done yet. He then moved to the Suns and asked James Jones about Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal. To no one’s shock, they were all untouchable.

While Morey is known as an aggressive executive, this may give fans a glimpse into their future when they know Morey and Philly will have between $40 and $60 million in cap space this offseason. This is the ballpark guesstimate.

The 51-year-old may want to extend Tyrese Maxey and get aggressive via a trade for Embiid. It’s all hypothetical, but it’s something to consider.

Daryl Morey Not Shocked By James Harden’s Decision

Per Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer, President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey is not surprised at all by James Harden’s recent comments.

It appears Morey was expecting Harden’s reaction to be negative; which makes sense why he didn’t get shocked at Harden making it very personal.

Reports have come out that James Harden will continue to make things very uncomfortable; he hopes by making them more uncomfortable then they’ll just give up and trade him.

However, if Harden does not report to the team by November 2nd, then he will forfeit his pay for the season. Philadelphia will have multiple routes to take with this ongoing battle.

Both sides are fairly even as it looks like this battle is not going to end any time soon.

Daryl Morey and 76ers ink up a deal for 5 years!

Daryl Morey and 76ers ink up a deal for 5 years! Reports have been flying off the shelves, people are tweeting, and everyone is going crazy. Yep, within a few hours of Daryl Morey departing from the Houston Rockets, the 76ers was already reaching out to him.

The former GM and the 76ers are finalizing a deal to make Morey their next President of Basketball Operations; this deal is looking to be a five-year contract. The money portion has not come out yet.

Daryl Morey has been a target on the 76er’s radar for quite some time now, actually, it all began two years ago. They were pressing it on him hard when he could have run the team but decided to resign with the Rockets.

Morey is expected to be flying out to Philly to meet the owner of the team and finalize this contract. Also, an official statement is suppose to come out later this week; this formal announcement will be made by the 76ers, most likely.
