Kobe Bryant died and the NBA is honoring him!

Published

on

Rumors of Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna were reported to have died to a helicopter crash heading to a basketball game at the Mamba University, these rumors were confirmed. It has been a tragic week for the sports world and for NBA teams, teams have been taking 8 to 24 second violations in honor of Kobe.

Kobe Bryant was only 41 years old as Gianna was only 13 years old, he has certainly left a legacy on and off the court. When the helicopter crashed it was before 10 AM in California and since there was a brush fire there was no way the first responders could have came any sooner, this is what the fireman said about crash:

Los Angeles County Fire Chief Daryl Osby: “At 9:47 a.m. the Los Angeles County Fire Department received a 911 call of a potential helicopter down and a brush fire…Upon arrival, our firefighters discovered approximately a quarter-acre brush fire that resulted from a crash on the hillside.”

A statement came out by Vanessa Bryant following the death of her husband and daughter:

“My girls and I want to thank the millions of people who’ve shown support and love during this horrific time. Thank you for all the prayers. We definitely need them. We are completely devastated by the sudden loss of my adoring husband, Kobe — the amazing father of our children; and my beautiful, sweet Gianna — a loving, thoughtful, and wonderful daughter, and amazing sister to Natalia, Bianka, and Capri.
We are also devastated for the families who lost their loved ones on Sunday, and we share in their grief intimately.
There aren’t enough words to describe our pain right now. I take comfort in knowing that Kobe and Gigi both knew that they were so deeply loved. We were so incredibly blessed to have them in our lives. I wish they were here with us forever. They were our beautiful blessings taken from us too soon.
I’m not sure what our lives hold beyond today, and it’s impossible to imagine life without them. But we wake up each day, trying to keep pushing because Kobe, and our baby girl, Gigi, are shining on us to light the way. Our love for them is endless — and that’s to say, immeasurable. I just wish I could hug them, kiss them and bless them. Have them here with us, forever.
Thank you for sharing your joy, your grief and your support with us. We ask that you grant us the respect and privacy we will need to navigate this new reality. Thank you so much for lifting us up in your prayers, and for loving Kobe, Gigi, Natalia, Bianka, Capri and me.”

Official statement from the Los Angeles Lakers on Kobe Bryant’s death:

“We are devastated and have been forever changed by the sudden loss of Kobe Bryant and his daughter, Gianna. We send our love to Vanessa, the Bryant family, and to the families of the other passengers. Words cannot express what Kobe means to the Los Angeles Lakers, our fans, and our city. More than a basketball player, he was a beloved father, husband, and teammate. Their love and light will remain in our hearts forever. The Mamba Sports Foundation has set up the MambaOnThree Fund to support the families affected by this tragedy. Pau Gasol is done with NBA and returning to Spain! Before we jump into this topic, let’s here from him in a statement:

“I’m happy to return to the club where I began, and I’m excited about this new opportunity: I hope to contribute to the first team very soon. I want to thank Barça and its technical staff for making it possible to join them.”

Originally tweeted by Pau Gasol (@paugasol) on February 23, 2021.

What’s happening with Gasol?

The 40-year-old is signing back with Spain’s team, Barcelona. Barcelona was his original team before going to the NBA and winning The Rookie of The Year Award when he was with Memphis.

This past Saturday, the Spanish Media Reports tried getting a scoop on Gasol and going back to Barcelona. Gasol did not want to comment on that at the time and said that he is just “focused on my recovery and I am not ready to get back to competing just yet.”

However, he made up his mind today. Only four days later. Wow fast turnaround but here we are; Gasol has won two NBA Championships, a 6-time All-Star, plus played with several teams. Of course his draft-team, the Grizzlies. He did play for the Spurs, Bucks, and Bulls. Gasol has averaged 17 points and 9 rebounds per game for his entire career.

DeMarcus Cousins and Rockets split!

DeMarcus Cousins and Rockets split!

DeMarcus Cousins and Rockets split! The center, known as Boogie, has split from the Rockets. This move was already made a few days ago, so this was just a leading cause of what was going to happen.

Also, this was a metal decision for these two-sides to call it quits. The 25-game run with Boogie is over, however, he could have another run in the NBA with a team. He has been trying to come back stronger than ever after Achilles’ injuries, knee injuries, etc.

The fallout happened when DeMarcus Cousins wanted more playing time, didn’t like the way he was being utilized. As a brief note, he was the backup center behind Christian Wood. However, due to the fact that Wood has been out with ankle injuries; the Rockets have lost their last eight games.

Defensive issues were catching up with Cousins and Silas did not want to pair up two centers on the court. That would have included Woods and Cousins.

That was the final straw and this meant that the Rockets have released him, or in terms, waived him.

Cousins is averaging 9 points and 7 rebounds per game since signing with the Rockets. He is averaging 20 points per game throughout his career.

Marcus Smart will be out until after the ASG!

Marcus Smart will be out until after the ASG! Even though Smart has been traveling with his team, the Celtics, he will be out until the All-Star Game is over.

Since the beginning of February, Marcus Smart has been out due to a left calf strain. However, he is scheduled to miss their next seven games due to rehab. That’s even with him shooting around, practicing, and whatnot.

So, he should be back around March 5th-10th after the All-Star Break. All-Star Game will be played on the 7th of March.

He is averaging 13 points and 6 assists for the season. The Celtics have been 5-6 with Smart missing games, defensive-lack has been key for this team since missing Smart.
