The Hornets have fired James Borrego

In one of the most shocking moves that no one could have seen coming, James Borrego has been fired. It was reported by ESPN, and many more sources, that Charlotte has dismissed him from coaching the team.

The Hornets were progressing each year under Borrego, but, reportedly, the blow-out Play-In losses were just enough to get him fired. Overall, Borrego posted a coaching record of 138-163 with the Charlotte Hornets.

Lakers, Kings, and now the Hornets will be looking for their new head coach for the foreseeable future.

Suns Trade Josh Okogie For Nick Richards

With Jusuf Nurkic falling out of the rotation, one of Phoenix’s biggest needs was upgrading at the center position.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Charlotte Hornets have traded Nick Richards to the Phoenix Suns for Josh Okogie. The Suns will send three second-rounders, while the Hornets will send over one second-rounder.

Initially, both sides talked about a Richards, Nurkic deal. However, Charlotte wasn’t interested in Nurkic or his big contract. They ultimately agreed upon Okogie and Richards being the main pieces.

Per the reporting of Arizona Sports’ John Gambadoro, the Suns expect Richards to start for them once he gets “acclimated to the team.”

Phoenix now has a center room of Richards, Mason Plumlee, Oso Ighodoro, and Nurkic.

By the Suns completing this trade, they save $20 million on their tax bill.

Lakers-Hornets Postponed Due To Wildfires

Due to the tragic wildfires rampaging through Los Angeles, the NBA has postponed Thursday night’s Lakers-Hornets game. This game was taking place in Los Angeles.

ESPN’s Shams Charania first reported the news. According to reports, the game will be rescheduled at a later date. Fans should expect a date in the near future.

Head coach JJ Redick’s home was destroyed in the fires, as he is one of many who unfortunately lost their house.

Kawhi Leonard is taking time away from basketball to be with his family, who were affected and had to evacuate due to this tragedy.

As a whole, the entire area of Los Angeles is taking steps for precaution and evacuation.

Miles Bridges Agrees To New Contract With Hornets

According to multiple reports, led by The Athletic’s Shams Charania and ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Miles Bridges has re-signed with the Charlotte Hornets after opting not to be in a potential sign-and-trade.

The 26-year-old agreed to a three-year, $75 million contract to keep the core of LaMelo Ball, Brandon Miller, and Bridges together. This comes after Charlotte saw his potential when he exploded for multiple 40-point games last season.

He averaged 21.0 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists last season. He was statistically and visually one of Charlotte’s most productive players.
