JR Smith has been signed by the Lakers!

JR Smith has been signed by the Lakers! Reports have been leaning towards the Lakers signing JR Smith. Last week was speculation that he was going to be signed by the Lakers, and the rumors were correct.

The Lakers and JR Smith have been inching closer and closer since today and a deal will be made. Smith will be with the Lakers for the rest of the season in Orlando, so this will be an interesting LeBron James and Jr Smith reunion.

Now, obviously, he did work out for the Lakers a few months ago trying to make a team; since being out of the league for two years. Of course, back in February, Dion Waiters got the position instead of Smith because he has proven himself better to the team. Waiters were cut by the Miami Heat after being suspended and doing nothing really for them.

Important question: will the reunion of LeBron James and Jr Smith work out in a positive manner?

Jr Smith has been signed by the Lakers! That should be a positive thing to say, but is it? First of all, maybe not. Why? Mainly he hasn’t played with LeBron in over two years, Anthony Davis has been his duo partner, and LeBron’s team around him has changed.

Minutes will be a significant factor that plays in this reunion, why? Mainly because LeBron James will be playing at least 28 minutes a game, and, for fun, let’s say Smith only gets 12 minutes.

His minutes will be utilized differently than his minutes back in Cleveland, and, two, his role will be diminished. The Lakers had a better starting five than the Cavs did back in 2017.

In short, I believe Jr Smith will be given the shot to play while being a bench player. To be honest, this might hurt some of you guys, he isn’t that talented to be a starter. I think if he gets ten minutes that would great for him.

I believe the reunion will be nice, but when it comes to game time he will be forgotten like his time in Cleveland towards the end. The Lakers just have a better team: LeBron, Davis, Caruso, Green, and Dwight Howard. That is a pretty big starting lineup. I believe that he will create more struggles than successes for this team and he will be cut or demoted minutes or chances to have the ball.

What do you guys think? Do you think Jr Smith can do well on this team? Do you think the Lakers will like him? Comment down below so we can see your opinions.

A family reunion? Jr Smith LeBron James Lakers Avery Bradley signing him due to family matters of Bradley CourtSideHeat

A family reunion? With Avery Bradley out and looking for a backup, there is only one man to go to. Jr. Smith. Jr. Smith has been a free agent for two years now, since being cut by the Cavaliers back in 2018.

Jr. Smith did get a tryout with the Lakers, but the Lakers instead signed Dion Waiters to a contract since he proved his worth more. Now, this signing wouldn’t be unusual, why? Because LeBron James is on the Lakers, and Smith knows the type of style LeBron likes playing.

LeBron and he used to be teammates back in Cleveland, but both departed each since they went their separate ways. One being cut and one going to a different team.

A family reunion?

The main reason why Avery Bradley is opting out of the NBA restart season is because of family issues. The Lakers starting guard is not going to be able to make it to Orlando for the restart so they have to substitute.

The Lakers might have to waive Bradley to make a roster spot for Smith, which wouldn’t be too hard as Smith is the top candidate to be signed for the restart season.

Good news is for the Lakers, and any team of that matter, there is an open window for signings before the restart season in Orlando begins. The signings can be through July 1st.

Jr. Smith’s career so far:

Jr. Smith has been in the league forever it feels like, and the feeling is correct. He has. Smith has been in the league for about 15 seasons now, won a title with the Cavs back in 2016, plus won NBA’s Sixth Man Award back in 2013 with the New York Knicks.

Smith has played 941 games, scored 12 points, plus had 4 rebounds per game.
