Juwan Howard has been SUSPENDED for the remainder of the season! Michigan men’s basketball will be without their head coach after a crazy altercation broke out after the Michigan-Wisconsin game. Wisconsin assistant coach Joe Krabbenhoft was hit in the face after the game from Howard, that altercation resulted in a five-game suspension.
Since Michigan only has five games left on their regular-season schedule, he is done for the season indefinitely. Also, he was fined $40,000 dollars. Fines were also given to Greg Gard, Wisconsin coach, as he participated in the after-the-game brawl. That resulted in $10,000 dollars.
For players, however, suspensions were given. Forwards from Michigan, Terrance Williams and Moussa Diabate, have each been suspended a game for participating in the altercation. Same will be given to Wisconsin’s own, Jahcobi Neath.
The reason for their suspensions? For throwing punches, or appearing to have taken a swing.
What exactly went down in the Michigan-Wisconsin matchup:
After the 77-63 win over Michigan, Wisconsin was preparing to walk-off without any controversy and celebrate a great team win. However, Juwan Howard had a different idea to end the post-game. Both Howard and Krabbenhoft were starting to chat as that led to words being said and Howard tugging on the shirt of Krabbenhoft and putting his finger in the face of Krabbenhoft.
Pushing and shoving was happening; one thing led to the next and that is when Juwan Howard made the attempted swing at Krabbenhoft. The main reason why this got so heated is due to the fact that Wisconsin was using their timeouts too much, especially in the final 15-seconds of that game.
Here is what Juwan Howard had to say about what went down
“I didn’t like the timeout they called, and I’m being totally honest with you,” Howard said, “I thought it was not necessary at that moment, especially with it being a large lead. … I thought that wasn’t fair to our guys. And so that’s what happened.”
Also, Juwan Howard said someone touched him but never identified the person.
“Someone touched me, and I think it was very uncalled for, for them to touch me, as we were verbalizing and communicating with one another. That’s what escalated it,” he said.
In the end, Michigan will be without their head coach and hopefully everyone can forget about this moment when it is Michigan’s basketball again next season with coach Howard.
Not the headline many of us were expecting to see this morning, however, I guess it had to come at some point in our basketball lives. The current Charlotte Hornet has gotten ejected from a basketball game; no, not an NBA game but a college game.
The former UConn player goes back home and watches a game, but there was also excitement outside of the game itself. In the second half of that game against Xavier, Boukknight was tossed from the game. Sitting court-side cost him huge as no one knows what caused the refs to eject the former UConn player.
All we know is that after he was ejected from court-side, he had different plans in mind. He left his seat and decided to crash the student section of UConn; Bouknight had no intentions of leaving and he made plans to stay.
Here is what Dan Hurley had to say about this:
“That was not an ideal scenario because we were playing bad and kind of melting down a bit,” UConn coach Dan Hurley said. “He got tossed. I didn’t really see what happened. And then I saw him again somewhere near the student section.”
College basketball is back and the opening games happened yesterday, Monday, as it had some banger of games. Today, CourtSideHeat will be giving all the scores from Monday as all teams played. We will do more recaps, with player recaps, throughout the season and for showtime/important games.
Kansas completes the comeback to win the championship
Kansas completes the comeback to win the championship
One of the most thrilling, if not the thrilling, championship matches have happened today and it was electrifying. It was between North Carolina and Kansas as Kansas won the championship; both teams were heavily favored to win the championship, but it was given to Kansas. North Carolina has been putting up a fight by eliminating Duke to get to this moment.
Kansas dominated everyone, that was to be expected. Right? A number one team is expected to do that, so the stage was set for an epic match. It was a high-level contest after Kansas came back from being down by 16 points to win it in a down-to-the-wire thriller.
At half, it was 40-25 UNC. However, come the final 20 minutes of this game, Kansas turned itself into a beast. While North Carolina kept the pressure up, the Jayhawks found a way. The final 20 seconds of this game was punch-for-punch. Honestly, this game went back-and-forth, counterpunches, loaded punches, game-changers, and everything else thrown into this game.
In the end, UNC was outscored by Kansas. To be exact it was 47-29. Defense turned into offense created opportunities for Kansas; but the glass was being controlled by North Carolina. Like I have been saying, blows traded and received.
Without watching the game, no one will truly understand how significant this game was. This was an enjoyable game, an intense game, and no mercy given. History has been created and everyone in attendance will not forget this moment.
WINNER: Kansas, 72-69

After taking a year away from college basketball, the former Arizona head coach is back and at it. And guess what? Xavier has lured Sean Miller, who has been with the organization from 2001-09, to their program.
He has been announced, by the team, as head coach of the Musketeers. His options were between South Carolina and Xavier, Xavier was the team to go back to. Not just because he is most familiar with this program, but because of his history with the team.
From 2004-09, he went 120-47, made four NCAA Tournaments, a trip to the Elite Eight in 2008, and a trip to the Sweet 16 in 2009. He then opted to take his talents to Arizona, where he would have a similar resume of success.
Miller led Arizona to five Pac-12 regular-season titles and three Elite Eight appearances from 2011 to 2015. Plus, Arizona went to the NCAA tournament in seven of Miller’s first nine seasons, talk about success.
The program got caught up in controversy, investigations, and a lot of depleting stuff that ultimately left Miller without a job and taking a year off. Now he is back and ready to sign officially with Xavier.
Miller will be replacing already-fired Travis Steele, who could never take his team to a NCAA Tournament.
