Stan Van Gundy hired as the Pelican’s HC!

Stan Van Gundy hired as the Pelican’s HC! Van Gundy, Jeff Van Gundy’s brother, has signed a four-year contract with the Pelicans. Pelicans were very pleased with Van Gundy for his overall knowledge of the game. Plus, having the type of experience he has in his 11-year career in the NBA.

Also, which many teams don’t do consistently and well enough, Gundy is a hard worker for the defensive side. All the teams he has coached for has ranked in the top ten in defense. This is huge, especially since not many coaches will press defense onto their players. The game has turned into an offensive game, however, Van Gundy still has hope and determination for the defensive side.

Here is what Stan Van Gundy has to say on this:

“I’m excited to join a talented New Orleans Pelicans team,” Van Gundy said Wednesday on Twitter. “It will be an honor to work with our players and to work for Mrs. Benson and David Griffin, Trajan Langdon, their staff, and the great people of New Orleans. I can’t wait to talk to our players and get the process started.”

Only two teams are left for head coaches, the Rockets and the Thunder. Seven out of nine teams got a head coach, who will be next? Jeff Van Gundy is looking to be hired by the Rockets… again. Maybe that can happen, who knows. We will just need to wait and find out.

The hometown hero getting the Mav’s job!

The hometown hero getting the Mav’s job! The Mavericks are hiring Jason Kidd as their new head coach after the departure of Rick Carlisle. Jason Kidd is a Hall of Fame point guard, now coach for the Dallas Mavericks. While non of the contract details are known, they are done finalizing the contract and Kidd is now able to assemble his coaching staff.

From 1996 to 2012, the Mavs and Kidd has formed a good relationship. People within the organization, like Dirk Nowitzki and Finley, wanted Jason Kidd. Even though their falling out was brutal, due to Mark Cuban. They fixed everything up, patched it up and now will be working side by side to hopefully win another championship.

Rick Carlisle actually wants Jason Kidd to be their new HC – hopes everything goes well between Luka and him:

“My hope is that Jason Kidd will be the next coach of the Mavs because he and Luka have so many things in common as players,” Carlisle told ESPN on Thursday after agreeing to become the Indiana Pacers head coach. “I just think that it would be a great situation for Luka, and I think it would be an amazing situation for Jason. I’m the only person on the planet that’s coached both of those guys and that knows about all of their special qualities as basketball players. To me, that just would be a great marriage, but that’s just an opinion.”

Carlisle goes to the Pacers and Kidd goes back to the Mavs; what a week.

“Out with the old and in with the new” holds true for the TimberWolves!

"Out with the old and in with the new" holds true for the TimberWolves!

“Out with the old and in with the new” holds true for the TimberWolves!

“Out with the old and in with the new” holds true for the TimberWolves! Head coaching changes are happening, it has happened. Most notably last night when the Timberwolves lost to the Knicks. However, it was much worse. How? The team then dropped to a record of 7-24, which is the worst record in the NBA currently.

Not a good sign, and that was the final straw from management and from ownership. So, “Out with the old and in with the new” is seemingly correct. Is it not?

Ryan Saunders, son of Flip Saunders, was fired after spending seven years with the team. Five as their assistant and two as their head coach. His replacement? His replacement is the Raptor’s own, now former, assistant HC, Chris Finch.

Why Finch?

Finch has a history with the Timberwolves, surprisingly. The Timberwolves back in 2019, when in need of an HC, interviewed him. That is until they went with their own assistant HC, Saunders.

Finch won the G-League title back in 2010 but then went on to pursue a bigger career in the NBA. He was an assistant head coach for the Raptors, Nuggets, Pelicans, and now the HC with the Timberwolves.

He is expected to coach with Saunders’ staff heading into Tuesday’s game against the Bucks.

Here is what Finch released about the opportunity he has been granted:

“I would like to thank [owner] Glen Taylor and Gersson Rosas for this incredible opportunity to be the head coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves,” Finch said in the statement. “I look forward to working hand and hand with Gersson to build and lead a team that Timberwolves fans will be proud of. We have excellent pieces in place and I can’t wait to get to work.” (ESPN)

Rosas talks on Finch, the same guy who told Saunders he was fired.

“Chris brings a wealth of basketball experience from his time in the NBA, G League, and Internationally. He is one of the most creative basketball minds in the NBA, has success maximizing players, and I am excited to see him bring our team to the next level and beyond,” (ESPN) Rosas said in a statement announcing Finch’s hiring.

Ty Lue is hired as the next HC for the Clippers!

Ty Lue is hired as the next HC for the Clippers!

Ty Lue is hired as the next HC for the Clippers! It is becoming more and more official as Ty Lue is becoming the successor of Doc Rivers. Yep, everything you just read is correct. He is your new head coach for the LA Clippers.

The reports have been flowing for the past few minutes now, on Ty Lue becoming the next HC of this franchise. Rumors have been surrounding him the past few days of him getting a head coaching job; either with the Pelicans or with the Clippers.

The main reason why they are hiring him for this position would be the fact that he won a championship back in 2016 with the Cavs. They think his high level of championship knowledge and understanding of the playoffs will help them win one; or at least come close to one. Plus, to me, they also hired him because of the way he controls egos. Look, he had to deal with LeBron’s massive ego and Kyrie’s massive ego, that is no walk in the park. So, the Clippers are like if he can do it with those two then he can do it for PG13 and the Klaw.

Doc Rivers was originally on the Clippers, but they had a falling out. That ultimately leaves the Clippers searching for someone new, which that just found. Also, Chauncey Billups is going to be on Ty Lue’s coaching staff. Hold up, before we make that official. He has the chance to become the Pacer’s new head coach, he is interviewing for that position. More will be brought onto that when more news come out.

Overall, Ty Lue is an NBA Champion. More than that he has led the Cavs to the NBA Finals three straight times; plus, having a 128-83 record in his entire career.
