Collin Sexton has suffered a meniscus tear in his knee!

Collin Sexton has suffered a meniscus tear in his knee! This will be horrific for the Cavaliers, who actually been playing well, as he will be sidelined indefinitely. His knee injury, as reported in the game, came against the New York Knicks. They won that game pretty easily and ensured their record towards 7-4; many people did not predict such a great start to their season.

While the team did not say anything initially about surgery, more tests will be done to see how many weeks he will be out for. Sexton’s recovery time will be determined by the severity of injury, if it isn’t bad then shorter the outage; however, longer would be worse… by a large amount.

We will keep you guys updated when we can on his status heading into the end of this week and into next week. This would, and will, be a huge blow when they won’t have their young general charging them into battle. That will be the toughest part out of all the things to happen, what will be the best thing to happen? The best thing to happen is to see Sexton come back healthy, as possible, as soon as possible.

Questions for you guys:

What do you guys hope to see? Do you guys think the Cleveland Cavilers can pull through without Sexton? Tell us what you guys think in the comment section below of this post.

Both sides have been at a stalemate when it comes to trying to get a new contract secured for Collin Sexton. Sexton wants more money, Cleveland is not buying into that, and now they are at crossroads trying to figure this one out. However, the Cavaliers have not stopped trying and their latest attempt to get him to extend is through this offer.

The offer is believed to be in the range of three years and $40 million dollars. So pretty much a three-year, $40 million dollar extension. Overall, Collin Sexton could be displeased with this offer as he wants “starting guard money.” Something the Cavs have been wary of giving him, for good reasons. Then it also makes sense why Sexton believes he is above their offer, for good reasons.

The restricted free agent does not have many suitors that are competing for him; it is actually just two teams… and they don’t seem as interested as he would hope for. The Spurs and Pacers are the only two known teams to have the cap room to sign Sexton without going through the sign-and-trade. However, neither side has been jumping up and down to pursue the guard.

Ultimately, Sexton believes that the offer Cleveland is giving him is beyond his market value and wants something higher. It has been reported that he and his camp will not bet against themselves just for the sake of getting a deal quick or at least securing it now. They will stay patient and wait to see how the rest of the league shapes up before making any more moves.

Collin Sexton has until October 1st to decide on his qualifying offer, or both sides can agree to extend that decision out further to give them more time. What happens if he accepts the qualifying offer? He signs for one year, $7.2 million. It acts as a prove-it year to the league to get more money, in a way. Also, if he accepts, then the following summer he will be an unrestricted free agent.

Collin Sexton is done for the year!

Collin Sexton is done for the year!

Collin Sexton is done for the year! Yep, if you are a fan of the Cavaliers or a fantasy owner – this will go down as a sad day in history. Why? Because, suggested by the title, Sexton is done for the year with season-ending surgery to repair a torn meniscus.

This doesn’t come as a huge shock as Sexton suffered the knee injury on November 7th, Knicks VS Cavs was the game to watch. However, not for those reasons. Now almost two weeks later we get the heart-shattering news that their star player, or one of the them, is done for the season.

“What comes up must come down!” That is a phrase that seems to be fitting this Cleveland Franchise perfectly. Example: Golden State was facing a Cleveland team that was missing six regular starters, or at least players of significant impact. Notable names like Sexton and Mobley were the biggest hits.

Where do the Cavaliers go now?

Well with no Sexton I would probably suspect players like Ricky Rubio becoming more of a factor in this offensive-minded team. He is averaging 15/6/3 per game as the backup veteran is doing wonders on and off the court; example: helping the young core, like Sexton and Garland.

Also, see changes in the rotation. Obviously with no Sexton, and with Mobley out for a good sum of games (about a month worth of games), we will be seeing players get increased minutes. That is coming off the bench and already stated to start.

  • Lauri Markkanen
  • Ricky Rubio
  • Kevin Love

These three players will be seeing increases in minutes and how they are utilized – where we like it or not. However, the big-time Cavaliers are now looking for every man to step up and pull through. The 9-8 Cavs are now looking to move past their three-game losing streak and now have some sense of security in hopefully beating the Nets at home in the coming days. Is that probable? Maybe. Is it? Maybe, overall, we just have to see everyone ball out. To put it into simplest terms, as it can be speculated currently.

Conclusion:

The Cavaliers will be tested in the coming weeks, starting with the Brooklyn game. Good news, though, as they will be playing at home. But, does that even matter anymore for this injury-ridden team? Goodness, this team can never catch a break.

That’s tough, on the other hand, what would be really tough would be losing all your momentum with anything you have left. Just make it until the rookie stud, Evan Mobley (third overall pick, 2021 NBA Draft), can comeback.

Until then this has been a tough blow for the team, but can they rebound from this travesty? It just all depends where their fate is heading, until then… just keep checking CourtSideHeat and the games to find out!
